Stone of Origin

A piece of stone can take thousands of years to form; how about the food we consume daily?

The Stone of Origin project is a cross-over between Deep Food's food design team and the Cambodian stoneware brand: Unsign. It aims to trace the atomic origin of food consumed nowadays and to celebrate the long journey that food has taken to exist in its current form.

The project designs tableware made of sandstone. Each stone comes with a fictional story detailing the legacy of these “creatures” spanning millions of years. These stone creatures are a metaphor for food substances we consume daily. Let’s view food as a matter that has taken millions of years to form, like the formation of stones. Can we appreciate food with this new lens in such an imaginary world?
