How to eat a wolf @ Board of Dinner
AI-gamified edible experience

Special iteration of the Board of Dinner project for art collective Rabbits' Choice, hosted at Empress Place, London

A collaborative work with

Joseph Wan (MA in Data Driven Design, University of Applied Sciences Utrecht)

Inspired by M. F. K. Fisher's seminal 'How to Cook a Wolf', Deep Food and Joseph Wan present a special iteration of their ongoing explainable Al for Empathy project, exploring the idea of co-being     -a concept shared by both the Al/Food team and the Rabbit Choice initiative.

Thinking along the lines of the vulnerability and vitality of rabbits - the central motif of the Rabbits' Choice initiative-we ask: How would rabbits eat a wolf?

The wolf represents a counter-concept to co-being or co-existence-a predatory being that threatens the existence of its prey. We believe that turning the metaphorical question of how to eat a wolf into an embodied experience of eating offers an intriguing way to consider how humans might find forms of co-being in the presence of conflicting values.

In this interactive experience, you are invited to the table to imagine how you would eat a wolf if you were rabbits. The Al agent that responds to your idea has been prompted to speak through the voices of artist Maria Cohen and Deep Food, using materials provided by the artists. The chatbot reflects on each proposal and gives a matching score based on its affinity with the artists' philosophies and practices. Depending on the match, you will receive an edible item associated with one artist or with both.

The bot may or may not accurately represent the artists. Either way, it serves as a mirror and a conversation starter, encouraging deeper curiosity about their practices.

Ultimately, this work explores how the two artists might co-exist while mutually imagining a more inclusive reality. It presents an alternative Al future where flavour, feeling, and humanity converge.
